content warnings

A content warning is a tool to help players make informed decisions about their play experience. In a post-apocalyptic world shaped by union struggles, corporate/bureaucratic control, and survival under harsh conditions, the stories we tell may include intense themes and difficult subject matter. This warning outlines some of the topics players may encounter so they can decide how they wish to engage.

What This Content Warning Does & Does Not Cover

This does highlight recurring themes and expected content in our setting. This does not mean every event will contain every topic listed here, nor does it account for every possible  trigger—improv storytelling can lead to unexpected moments. This does not mean these themes will be forced on you. Player choice dictates how much you engage with certain stories. At all times, you are responsible for managing your own play experience. If a scene is no longer enjoyable, you can use the OK Check-In System or opt yourself out.

Managing Your Play Experience

We believe in informed consent in roleplay—players should be aware of what they’re engaging with and have the ability to step away when needed. Our setting is immersive, but you are never required to engage with any scene you are uncomfortable with.

If you need to check in, use the OK Check-In System:

Use the OK hand sign as a silent question.

Respond with a thumbs-up (I’m good), horizontal hand (I’m unsure), or thumbs-down (I need to step out).

You can leave a scene at any time—you do not need permission or a reason. If you have specific content boundaries, we encourage you to communicate them with your roleplay partners. Player comfort and safety are always a priority.

If you have any concerns about content or safety, please reach out to staff on-site or via email: info@dystopiarisingks.com before or after the event. During the event, you can come to Ops or the DMV to get in touch with one of the owners. Our goal is to create a rich, immersive world that balances realism with player agency. Themes of power, survival, and resistance are core to the setting, but you always have control over your own story. Play the game that is fun for you. Take care of yourself and each other.
